PHOENIX, Ariz.- The Arizona State Veterans Home- Phoenix (ASVH-Phoenix)  is now offering residents newly renovated rooms that offer more privacy and a bigger living space, the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services (ADVS) announced.

“We are so excited to offer our Veterans and their families an updated and beautiful living space that feels more like home,” said ADVS CEO Dana Allmond.

The renovations will now allow residents to live in a private room that contains a bedroom and living space instead of sharing the room with another.

ASVH-Phoenix Administrator Jeffery Cook said this will allow for more privacy and more personal space for each resident.

“These renovations were necessary because of our facility’s age and use, over time we have to update and renovate to better meet the residents’ needs,” Jeff said.

Because residents will no longer be doubled up, the new rooms means ASVH-Phoenix’s is no longer a 200-bed facility but now will house 104 beds.

The home has completed the first phase of renovations with the second wave of renovations expected to continue later this summer.

For now, the newly renovated rooms are open to current and new residents who wish to move in and Jeff says the excitement has been overwhelming.

“The ones who have moved to the new unit are very pleased with the updates, fresh look and privacy,” Jeff said.

ASVH-Phoenix serves the long-term care and rehabilitative needs of Arizona Veterans with caring staff who provide nursing, therapeutic recreation and social services to its residents. Each resident room comes equipped with a TV with free cable, DVD player, private telephone and free WiFi.
